Day Trips

Our primary business of snowcat skiing and boarding offers advanced intermediate to expert skiers and boarders the chance to experience the rewards of the backcountry in the hands of our experienced licensed guides.

While many snowcat skiing operations only offer two to six day package trips, at Peak Adventures you have the flexibility of signing up for a single day of snowcat skiing or boarding. With this option you may wish to sign up for multiple single day trips throughout the season or follow up a day of snowcat skiing with a day of snowshoeing or snowcat assisted ski touring. For those visiting one of the nearby ski areas such as Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass, or Schweitzer, combine your resort skiing with a backcountry adventure and get away from the crowds.

Our day trips start at our headquarters in Cataldo at 7:00 a.m. After introductions and a safety briefing we head out to the snowcats for a full day of powder turns. We average 8-15 runs per day depending on the skiing ability of the group, choice of terrain, and hours of daylight we have to work with. This translates into 12,000 – 20,000 vertical feet of powder turns per day. During December and January when the days are shorter, we typically get fewer runs; however, as the days get longer, we take full advantage of the light and squeeze in a few more descents. Each run is unique, and the variety of terrain we have to offer can accommodate all interests. Day trips start with a welcome hot drink in the morning, a hot lunch, and drinks throughout the day. We cater to a variety of skill levels. Check our frequently asked questions page to see the ability level required for our trips.

Overnight Yurt Trips

When the alpenglow of the sun signals the end of an epic day of snowcat skiing, you are ready to take your boots off, have a drink and enjoy a gourmet meal. Our comfortable mountain top yurt is the quickest and easiest path towards this goal. Just steps from the snowcat, you will be greeted by our yurt host and offered a toasty appetizer and drink followed by a hearty meal. Meals are shared around a big table giving everyone the chance to share stories and recollections from the day. Music, cards, magazines, and a variety of games are on hand. If you have the energy, you might go for an evening stroll in the moonlight. In the morning, you will awake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and a hearty breakfast to prepare you for a full day of powder skiing. Check out our calendar for full-moon trip dates and enjoy some great scenery in the moonlight.

Multi-day Yurt Trips

Same as our two-day yurt trips, only better. Spend three, four, or five days making fresh powder turns while enjoying the silence of sleeping in our backcountry yurt. An adventure you will never forget.

Custom Trips

For the ultimate adventure, reserve a private snowcat for a single day or multi-day snowcat skiing or boarding mission. This is the ideal option for larger groups, families, student groups, and corporate incentive trips. We can customize the trip in any way you want. Interested in doing some ski touring on steep slopes into the adjacent wilderness area? Or would you rather just cruise the snowcat with a bunch of friends and explore the mountains in style? Want to take a leisurely day and make just a few runs and enjoy the scenery? Or maybe, you want to go for the Peak Adventures vertical feet in a day record with a crew of serious skiers? Just let us know. We can also cater to mixed groups of skiers and non-skiers by arranging guided snowshoe touring for the non-skiers and snowcat skiing for the skiers or boarders.
