Summertime & Thinking of Snow

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Enjoying some warm weather this summer in the South Pacific.  The wind and waves have been great for surfing and kiteboarding here on Oahu.  Thinking of snow and contemplating what next winter has in store for Peak Adventures.  Let us know what you are up to this summer on our facebook page and give us your thoughts on next winter.

Weakening El Niño

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Various reports indicating a weakening of the El Nino phenomena look like they might just correspond with a change in our weather.  One of the biggest fronts of the winter looks to be hitting N. Idaho over the next few days with continuing precip in the long term forecast.  Wednesday looks like it could be a good day for catskiing.  If you have a crew, and want some end of the season freshies, give us a call.  My forecast is over a foot by Wed. in our terrain.

Island Ski & Board Team

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

What better way to say thank you to your employees and supporters than a day of catskiing fresh pow?

Island Ski & Board in Coeur d’Alene closed their doors for the day and the entire staff and development team joined us for a day of bluebird skies and pow turns. This season Island Ski & Board provided us with two pairs of Line fat powder skis for our clients to demo.  If you haven’t done so, stop in and check out the shop while passing through Coeur d’Alene, they have  a great selection of ski gear to outfit you for cat-skiing trips, including outerwear, custom footbeds, powder skis, and snowboards.  Thanks for joining us guys.

Snow Report! Update.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

8 inches fell Sunday, and it continued throughout the day on Monday.  As usual, we got more than NOAA forecasted and Silver Mtn. reported (3 inches).

Perfect conditions for a day of guided ski touring in some of the steep places we can’t reach with the snowcat.  Here are a few pics from Sunday’s tour in the Crystal Lakes Basin.  The snowpack was solid for a day skiing some steep lines in our ski touring terrain.

Snow is falling.

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

It is dumping on the mountain (currently at a rate of 1/2″ per hour). Forecast showing more snow continuing tonight and tomorrow. Seeking powder hounds to play hooky from work this Tuesday and get some powder turns in before spring really hits. Give a call now to book your last minute adventure!

This type of NOAA forecast has frequently resulted in a good 6-8 inches of fresh snowfall.  If this storm continues to evolve, Tuesday will be a good day for catskiing.  Stay posted powder hounds.

It ain’t summer yet.

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Just back from another pow day.  While some are dusting off their bikes and golf clubs, we are making powder turns.  If it dumps we roll, if it doesn’t we don’t.  Sign up for our standby list on the homepage if you want to get out when the next big one hits.
